Mochi Slayer

A chibi anime hero stands alone against a meadow full of monsters - drag to dodge while your magic fires on its own, sweep up glowing shards to level up, and pick a new weapon or power every time until the stage boss falls.

About Mochi Slayer

Mochi Slayer is a one-thumb "survivors" arena in the spirit of Vampire Survivors, restyled with cute anime characters and chibi monsters. You control a single thing - where your little mage-girl walks. Everything else fights for you: every weapon you own automatically picks the nearest enemy and fires on its own timer, so the whole game is about positioning. Drag anywhere on the screen to slide a floating joystick (or use WASD / the arrow keys on a keyboard) and weave your hero through the gaps in the swarm while spirit bolts, fox-fire, spinning guardians and star novas tear the monsters apart around you.

Slain monsters scatter glowing XP shards. Walk over them - your hero has a magnet that sucks nearby shards in - and they fill your power bar. Every time the bar fills you LEVEL UP, the action pauses, and you choose one of three powers: a brand-new weapon, another level on a weapon you already carry, or a passive boost like Power, Haste, Swift feet, Vigor (more health), a bigger Magnet, Regen, or Guard armor. Because the three options are random each time, no two runs build the same hero - one game you might stack a wall of orbiting guardians, the next a long-range bolt-and-nova glass cannon.

Each stage is a survival timer. Outlast the clock while the swarm grows thicker and faster, and when it runs out the stage BOSS crashes in - a crowned Fang Lord, a hat-wearing Grave Witch, or a hulking Stone Titan with a big health bar and a ring of bullets. Beat the boss to clear the stage, earn three stars, and unlock the next of twenty hand-themed arenas, from Sakura Meadow to the Blood Citadel. Your hearts are your lifeline: every monster that touches you chips them away, so a clean run is one where you keep dancing just out of reach.

There are twenty curated stages that steadily add new monster types and tougher bosses, plus an Endless mode that throws every enemy at you at once and ramps forever for a high-survival challenge. The whole thing is built to grow - monsters, bosses, weapons, powers and stages are all simple data entries - so the roster keeps expanding. It runs instantly in any browser on phone, tablet or desktop, with your stars and unlocked stages saved on your device. No download, no account, no cost.

There's also a between-runs meta-game: every monster you defeat and every stage you clear earns Mochi Coins, which you spend in the Pets menu to unlock and upgrade a roster of cute companions - a Mochi Cat, a Pup, a Fox Spirit and a Star Owl. Any pet you own then joins your next run, roaming around your hero and auto-firing at the nearest monster on its own. Leveling a pet boosts its damage, fire rate and range, so coins from one run make you permanently stronger in the next - a layer of progression that carries across every stage and run.

How to play Mochi Slayer

  1. Press Play to drop into the current stage, or open Stages to pick any arena you've unlocked (or Endless).
  2. Drag anywhere on the screen to move - a joystick appears under your thumb. On a keyboard, use WASD or the arrow keys.
  3. Don't worry about aiming or shooting: every weapon you own auto-targets the nearest monster and fires by itself. Just keep your hero alive.
  4. Walk over the glowing shards that monsters drop to fill your power bar; your magnet pulls in any that are close.
  5. When you level up, the game pauses and shows three powers - tap one to add a new weapon, level up a weapon, or take a stat boost.
  6. Watch your row of hearts. Each monster that touches you costs health, so weave through the gaps instead of charging into the crowd.
  7. Survive until the timer hits zero - the stage boss appears with a health bar at the bottom. Whittle it down to clear the stage.
  8. Clearing a stage earns three stars and unlocks the next. Chase all twenty, then test your build in Endless mode.
  9. Spend the Mochi Coins you earn each run in the Pets menu to unlock and upgrade companions - they roam beside your hero and auto-attack monsters in every future run.

Tips & strategy

  • Keep moving. Standing still lets the swarm surround you - a slow, constant circle around the arena keeps monsters strung out in a line your weapons can mow down.
  • Lead the crowd into your damage. Walk so the monsters chase you straight through your Star Nova rings, Petal Aura, or the path of your bolts.
  • Early levels, grabbing a second and third weapon usually beats over-leveling one - more weapons means more directions covered at once.
  • Guardians (orbiting orbs) and the Petal Aura hit anything that touches you, so they're great for surviving when you're boxed in by a wall of monsters.
  • Vigor (more max health) and Regen turn near-death runs around; take them when your hearts are running low rather than more damage.
  • Magnet upgrades let you scoop shards from across the screen, so you level up faster and snowball your build sooner.
  • Save room to dodge before the timer ends - the boss spawns the instant it hits zero, and you don't want to be cornered when it does.

Game features

  • One-thumb "survivors" gameplay - you only steer; every weapon auto-aims and auto-fires.
  • Cute anime hero versus chibi monsters: slimes, bats, ghosts, imps, wisps and stone golems.
  • Level-up power picks - choose 1 of 3 every level for a different build each run (new weapon, weapon level, or passive boost).
  • Six weapons - Spirit Bolt, Fox Fire, Guardians, Petal Aura, Star Nova and Moon Slash - each with multiple upgrade levels.
  • Seven passive upgrades: Power, Haste, Swift, Vigor, Magnet, Regen and Guard.
  • Twenty hand-themed stages, each a survive-the-timer run that ends in a boss fight (Fang Lord, Grave Witch, or Stone Titan).
  • Endless mode with every monster type and an ever-ramping difficulty for a high-survival challenge.
  • Pets meta-game - spend Mochi Coins earned from runs to unlock and upgrade companions (Mochi Cat, Pup, Fox Spirit, Star Owl) that roam around your hero and auto-attack monsters every run.
  • Hearts-based health, XP shards, a magnet pickup radius, rare healing drops, and three-star stage clears.
  • Fully synthesized sound effects, looping background music, a floating touch joystick, and full keyboard support.
  • Plays instantly in any browser on phone, tablet or desktop, with progress saved locally - no download, no account.

One Thumb, A Walking Kill Box

What separates Mochi Slayer from busier arena shooters is how little it asks of your hands. There is exactly one input that matters, where the mage walks, and a floating joystick blooms wherever your finger lands. Spirit Bolt auto-snaps to the nearest body, Fox Fire sprays in your facing direction, Guardians orbit on a fixed ring, and a Petal Aura quietly chews anything that brushes you. Because none of it needs aiming, the whole game becomes a footwork problem. The best players are not the fastest tappers but the calmest pathfinders, walking a slow loop that strings the swarm into a single line their weapons rake clean.

The feedback is tuned to make automatic fire feel earned. Every non-boss hit shoves the target backward with knockback that decays fast, so a clean shot visibly throws monsters off you, while bosses stand immovable and soak it. Kills puff into dark sparks, a yellow LEVEL UP floats off the hero, and the camera kicks when a boss lands or a heart of damage gets through. The magnet does the unglamorous work, vacuuming dropped XP shards so you never backtrack, and stacking Magnet inflates that pull radius by roughly a third each time until shards stream across the field toward you.

Builds come from a forced draw on every level-up. The action freezes and offers three cards pulled from six weapons, their upgrade tiers, and seven passives, Power, Haste, Swift, Vigor, Magnet, Regen and Guard. The pool reshuffles each time, so one run becomes a wall of orbiting Guardians plus an aura that punishes contact, the next a long-range Spirit Bolt and Star Nova glass cannon. When you already own enough that the deck runs dry, the leftover slots quietly fill with a heal, a graceful safety valve rather than a wasted pick. Beneath it sits a coin economy funding four pets that orbit you and carry their levels into every future stage.

The stage shape is refreshingly legible. A clock counts down while the swarm thickens, and the instant it hits zero a Fang Lord, Grave Witch or Stone Titan crashes in with a health bar, the first two spitting an eight-bullet ring while the Titan just bulldozes. Twenty hand-themed arenas climb from Sakura Meadow to the Blood Citadel, widening the monster roster as they go, before Endless throws the full bestiary at you and stiffens difficulty every twenty-two seconds. Slow self-regen, contact damage gated to a cooldown and short early timers keep it kind to a six-year-old, yet a careful builder still has a real survival ceiling to push.

Frequently asked questions

How do I attack in Mochi Slayer?

You don't have to - and you can't aim manually. Every weapon your hero owns automatically targets the nearest monster and fires on its own timer. The only thing you control is movement, so the skill is in dodging and positioning the swarm into your line of fire.

How do I get stronger during a run?

Monsters drop glowing XP shards when they die. Collect them to fill your power bar; each time it fills you level up and pick one of three powers - a new weapon, a higher level on a weapon you have, or a passive stat like more health, faster firing, or a wider magnet.

How do I clear a stage?

Each stage is a survival timer shown at the top. Survive until it reaches zero and the stage boss appears with a health bar. Defeat the boss to clear the stage, earn three stars, and unlock the next one.

How many stages are there?

There are twenty hand-themed curated stages that gradually add new monsters and tougher bosses, plus a separate Endless mode that uses every monster type and ramps up forever. You unlock the next curated stage by clearing the one before it.

What is Endless mode?

Endless drops you into an arena where every kind of monster spawns from the start and the difficulty climbs the longer you last - there's no final boss to end it, just a test of how long your build can survive. It's always available from the Stages screen.

Is it too hard for younger players?

It's built to be friendly: your hero heals slowly on its own, monsters do gentle contact damage on a cooldown rather than instantly, and early stages are short with one or two easy monster types. Picking Vigor and Regen on level-up makes runs even more forgiving.

Is my progress saved?

Yes - the stages you've unlocked, your stars, your Mochi Coins and your pets are stored in your own browser on that device. There's no account or cloud save, so a different device or a cleared browser starts fresh.

What are pets and how do I get them?

Pets are companions that fight alongside you. You earn Mochi Coins by defeating monsters and clearing stages, then open the Pets menu (from the start, win or defeat screen) to unlock and upgrade them. Any pet you own automatically joins your next run - it roams around your hero and fires at the nearest monster on its own, and upgrading it raises its damage, fire rate and range. Pets carry over between runs, so they're a permanent boost you build up over time.
